White Beeswax Beads
Beeswax is used primarily to thicken, provide barrier properties, or as a natural emulsifier.
IN LOTIONS:
Beeswax is a natural emulsifier used in creams and lotions where the use of synthetic emulsifiers such as ewax NF are not desired. Products using beeswax as the emulsifier are what is called a water/oil emulsion.
The main characteristic of this is that it doesn’t sink in as fast as we are accustomed. I find in some applications it is my preference, as many lotions don’t give much staying power and leave my skin feeling softer but not really moisturized.
IN SOAPS:
Beeswax is also used to harden soaps although if too much is used, the lather will be reduced.
IN SALVES:
Beeswax is a important ingredient in salves, it’s what gives it the salve like consistency and creates the barrier effect. It is also the main ingredient to make a natural version of petroleum jelly.
IN BODY BUTTERS:
Beeswax is not always used when making body butters but can be added to make a thicker body butter with greater staying power and when a barrier is desired, such as foot butters and baby bottom butters.
It will give a thicker product especially suitable for feet and very dry places such as elbows where you don’t necessarily want it to sink in right away.
Beeswax is also used in furniture and floor polish.
