Natural Health a Huge Business Opp
I was reading an article from the About Small Business website, the title was “Healthy Food a Huge Business Opportunity“.
Here is a paragraph that especially interested me…
“Yesterday’s post on wild blueberries gets me thinking once again of how the whole wild/natural/organic food market is exploding. The “eat healthy” movement has been building for years, but the series of contaminated food disasters emanating from China have fanned our desire into a demand for safe, healthy food.”
It’s absolutely true, and goes for skin care too.
But it struck me odd that it should be such a surprise. Has marketing and commerce so skewed our innate judgement on what should be a “natural” instinct for survival – to prefer healthy, wholesome food and personal products – that it is news, and odd when we see a mass preference and demand for these things?
The market is exploding? It is and for good reason, but I just can’t wrap my head around the fact that it at some point, it became so abnormal to prefer it, and so normal to accept and yes – support through our own shopping habits – refined, synthetic, processed “crap” for lack of a better word.
I am glad that the trend is to get back to common sense!
And just for the record, there seem to be plenty of contaminated food and product disasters through mass production and factory farming to go around, not just from China :0)
