It takes about 10 minutes and really makes me feel clearer for most of the day. It's also a nice way to relax into the day while at the same time, energizing.

I’ve recently been paying more attention to my skin care routine, in particular my face.

One of the items that I find to be very beneficial is a morning facial steam.

It can also be nice at night – along with a clean pair of jammies and clean bedding AND a good book – it doesn’t get much better than that!

It takes about 10 minutes if I do it in the morning and really makes me feel clearer for most of the day. You can heat the water when you make your morning tea or coffee.

It’s a nice way to relax into the day while at the same time, energizing. It’s not hard to get up a little earlier to do this if that’s what you need to do since it is so enjoyable and takes little energy, especially if you get your items ready the night before.

It is making a huge difference in how I feel throughout the day.

I don’t have one of the facial steamers that you can buy although I wouldn’t mind checking one out, I have a bowl that I use especially for this, it’s stainless steel with a rubber bottom so there is less chance of spillage or breakage – something to always watch out for – a spill can be nasty, especially if you have children or pets around.

I keep it simple – add a few drops of what ever essential oil I’m in the mood for – eucalyptus, spearmint or myrtle if I want to be refreshed, frankincense is all around wonderful and today I used some Australian Sandalwood that I have, a lovely way to start the day.

DON’T OVER DO

Especially for the stronger essential oils, it’s important to let some of the essential oils diffuse before sticking your head under the towel over the steaming water so that they don’t burn your eyes or nose/throat.

Don’t get too close and enjoy.

You can see a selection of my essential oils here.

I think it would be a great idea to put an assortment of 5ml bottles together for this, stay tuned and let me know if you have any preferences for essential oils that you would like to start the day with.

GREAT PRODUCT IDEA

If you sell soaps, this would be a wonderful and easy product addition to your site as well. If you can find some nice headbands it would be even nicer, you could even go whole hog and add a plush towel.

A smaller one for blotting the face after spells l-u-x-u-r-i-o-u-s.

I did this to make up a few face spa Christmas baskets and it worked very well. I used a large plush towel as the basket/spa bag (I used a small basket and wrapped it up with the towel – I sewed one to make a beach bag for a Florida trip and just tied the other one for a more casual look – they were both nice.

You can put this together any time of the year and vary the colour scheme to suit the theme of the essential oils or time of year. I did all white with silver accents and it came out very nicely.

If you’re in the US, you can get some nice essential oils at a reasonable price at the sites listed on the sidebar, or for an absolutely decadent experience, try Nature’s Gift essential oils (I get no kickback for that, I just LOVE Marge’s oils, her rose otto would be to die for in a face spa basket).

I spent Sunday and Monday of the long weekend selling soaps and natural skin care items at the Burks Falls Fall Fair. I’ve been stepping out a bit this summer, also at the Burks Falls Farmers Market and will be in full swing of making new soaps and skin care items over the next months and Christmas that will be available on the website as well as some of the Christmas crafts sales and markets.

THANK YOU!

First I’d like to say thanks to everyone who came over to check out my soaps and natural skin care items. It was a real treat for me to chat with you, your interest and comments were very much appreciated!

For everyone who took a new item home, I hope that you enjoy them and watch the website for new soaps and other items coming up soon. If you would like to be notified by email of new items and specials you can sign up to my new SKN Soaps, Scents and Skincare newsletter.

LOCAL SHOPPING

I also managed to do some shopping! I have been needing some jewellery pretty much since my girls got big enough to raid my jewellery collection. I don’t buy expensive jewellery because I also have a tendency to lose or break it so I was delighted to find a lady selling really nice jewellery at a great price.

I bought some great items that I would never find in a store and I also did some Christmas shopping.

I made the lady’s morning I’m sure AND I she gave me quite a few free items. Just try that at a big box store!

I supported the Burks Falls library by purchasing some used books cheap and found a handmade note lady – I have been wanting to purchase some little handmade thank you notes for SKN customers for ages and now I’ve found some – along with some great cards and stocking stuffers.

IT MEANS A LOT

As both a seller and a shopper I can tell you that each and every small purchase made from homemade crafters and home business owners is greatly appreciated, probably more than you know unless you have been on the other side of the table. It can make the difference between a person being able to continue to keep a business that works well for them or having to stop and get a minimum wage job at a chain store.

That is HUGE. You are in effect buying not just a great product that you probably couldn’t buy somewhere else, but you are supporting a dream and helping a family.

Wow.

GREAT LEARNING EXPERIENCE

If you are selling and haven’t had a table at a farmers market or fair you really should try it. It isn’t easy, but it’s a lot of fun, it’s great to get out – meet new people as well as reconnect with old friends.

You will be amazed at the ideas people will give you and it’s a great way to be available for your customers.

And it’s a great way to try new things and make improvements in your product and presentation. I am going to be putting a lot of what I learned to good use on the website as well.

Unfortunately I didn’t check my camera batteries so I couldn’t get pictures there, but here are a few shots of some of the soap baskets I had out.

The gold one is called Sandalwood Gold, it’s made with the Sandalwood Blend essential oil and a high cocoa butter base, the green ones are the castile/coconut bars that are always popular for sensitive skin because they are so gentle – the olive oil I use is unfiltered organic – it gives a great natural scent and is a little bit different, and the pink are smaller rose soaps made with a rose geranium blend.

I’ll have more details in coming weeks and also will have some of these up on the website for sale.

I came across this article that I thought was really interesting.

I am not recommending the products in particular, I know nothing about them, but I think that the information in the article is great if you workout or if you sell your own products you may be able to put an all natural ‘after exercise’ line together.

I’d like to work on this myself as I’ve been a member at Club Fit Yummy Mummy for 2 years now (we’re doing a preholiday challenge right now to be prepared for the fun over the holidays) and I love it. I find it to be quick, effective and the support there is amazing.

I usually have my shower before my workout to energize me, warm up my muscles and to open my pores. Then I have a quick shower after to rinse off all of the sweat and I have often thought how skin is in prime condition after a workout for good, natural skin care since it’s warm and the pores are clean and open (for excellent absorption of what ever we use – on the flip side – it’s also prime time for absorbing toxins into our systems through our skin through skin care that contains who know what.

So, here’s the article, I’d love to hear if you have any suggestions or if you have a skin care routine that you use after you exercise.

Skin Care Routine After Exercise
