Lip Scrub - Interesting Product Idea

I came across this today and thought it may be of interest as a simple thing that could be easily made either for yourself or for sale.

Lip Scrub

It could be a nice stocking stuffer if made with a Christmas twist such as mint flavour and a fine white sugar scrub (white christmas), although the possibilities are good for some other yummy flavours especially for valentines with a brown sugar scrub base (I would grind the sugar to be fine) and flavours like chocolate or coffee (co2 and/or fine coffee grains).

Honey could be a nice additive.

Or how about a Lip Peel? (lip appeal :0) I couldn't say how effective it is as a peel/scrub, but I have found cellulose gum at a high concentration to peel away when applied. It's similar to a honey peel that I bought.

Has anyone tried one of these?

What would you make them with?

I was thinking of playing with exactly this kind of thing — lip exfoliators. I really like your sugar idea, but I’m going to experiment with just a touch of apricot kernal shells in my lip balm base with a little bit of peppermint eo for zip and see what happens…

Hi Margaret, excellent suggestion. I had something on the tip of my brain but couldn’t remember what it was, now I remember it was walnut husks. I forget how fine or coarse they are but they might be nice. I know I love them in body scrubs.

A very simple lip scrub could possibly be made from scrub material of choice, cocoabutter plus oil and vitamin e ‘to taste’ - pardon the pun :0) Maybe some glycerin (I find it will mix if added when a butter is cool enough although not always all of it) or honey etc. to sweeten it up and or flavour of choice.
