Using Green Bins

Environmentally Friendly

The other day I was at the grocery store and finally decided to bite the bullet and buy some of those green bins that are for sale to put my groceries in.

I should have done it sooner!

They where packed faster, unloaded faster, easier to carry - they have carrying handles - and best of all - no plastic shopping bags!  They are my pet peeve for the environment.

When I shop in our town, I get paper bags, if you don’t have bins, ask about them. Many stores have them but won’t offer them unless you ask.

I use the paper bags to wrap the boxes that need it when I ship my orders.  So they are always welcome.

Next time you are out shopping, remember to bring your own bags or get some bins, they are worth every penny (I use them for my laundry too!)

I agree! I work at a health food store and we have switched to giving bio-degradable plastic bags. They begin to break down in as little as 8 months (even in your drawers!) They’re not the best solution but even if all the grocery stores switched to these it would make a huge difference in the world. If anyone would like more information on where to get them or would like me to send them some let me know. It takes all of us taking simple actions such as going to your grocery store manager or writing a letter to the head office, to make a huge difference! But I agree that the best is the ByOB (bring your own bags!)

Hi Bonnie, I would love for you to post where to get them.

We have some in our grocery store that you can buy (the leaf gathering bags break down I think, and also there is another kind that I use to line boxes or double bag orders when I can)

I contacted the company to see about more sizes etc but never heard back.

    Thanks!
